《Shenzhen Daily》:International industrial design fair opens

THE Second China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Design Fair, China’s leading exhibition in industrial design, opened Saturday at Hall 9 of Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.

Organized by the Economy, Trade and Information Commission of Shenzhen and the Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association, the fair covers an area of 15,000 square meters and features more than 5,000 cutting-edge design works in wearable devices, electronics, personalized vehicles and smart home appliances from 25 countries.

 

More than 70 percent of the exhibition spaces are dedicated to seven international groups, including winners of the Spark Award, the G-Mark Award and the iF-Universal Design Award, a Danish pavilion and an Italian pavilion.

 

The global wearable giant Misfit from the United States is exhibiting its latest wearable wristband that aims to inspire people to be more active and develop a healthy lifestyle.

 

A pair of smart glasses called Reed, co-designed by Chinese designers and Stefano Giovannoni, a well-known Italian designer, was unveiled Saturday.

 

More than 100 designers from around the world, including renowned American Karim Rashid, Duncan Turner with the world’s largest hardware accelerators company HAXLR8R, and Japanese Masayuki Kurokawa, are also gathering together at the fair and showcasing their best designs.

 

The fair, which will conclude tomorrow, includes a series of forums, workshops and lectures as well.
