SHENZHEN and Denmark signed agreements Thursday to cooperate on four creative design projects, during an economic and trade cooperation meeting in the Denmark capital of Copenhagen.

The Shenzhen Industrial Design Profession Association and Danish Design Center will jointly establish a Sino-Danish creative center to boost cooperation and development in creative design between the two countries. Shenzhen-based LKK Design Co. and Designit, a Danish strategic design consultancy, will cooperate in promoting Novo Nordisk, a kind of insulin, to Chinese markets.

The Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology under the Chinese Academy of Sciences will collaborate with universities in Denmark in the research and application of new-generation nano-materials. Other academic exchanges will be promoted between the institute and Danish universities, as well.

Shenzhen-based 3NOD Digital Group and Davis Lewis, a Danish design company, will collaboratively develop a smart home entertainment system based on the design of B&O headphones.

“The collaborations will help Shenzhen improve its creative ability and promote its economic transformation,” Shenzhen Mayor Xu Qin said during the meeting.

Martine Gram Barbry, CEO of the Danish Creative Center’s Hong Kong branch, said she is expecting Shenzhen to serve as a starting point for Denmark to explore other markets on the Chinese mainland.

The two sides could explore more cooperative opportunities in some of Denmark’s strongest industries, such as energy, the environment, electronic communication and life sciences, and Denmark hopes to help Chinese enterprises find more business opportunities in the country, Barbry said.
