THE first Shenzhen-Hong Kong Design Exhibition Biennial is now open through Nov. 5 at various venues scattered around the city.

The biennial hopes to help design professionals in both cities gain a deeper understanding of each other and learn how to supplement each other. It also hopes to educate the public about the latest design concepts brewing in both cities.

The event’s curators have gathered works from fields such as industrial design, graphic design, interior design, fashion, media and technology-related design and are exhibiting them at Dalang Fashion Valley, OCT Bay, OCT Art and Design Gallary, OCT Loft, Qianhai Exhibition Hall and other venues.

“The biennial will increase communication between Shenzhen and Hong Kong,” said Freeman Lau, director of this year’s exhibition and secretary general of Hong Kong Federation of Design Association. “Shenzhen designers are young and energetic, while Hong Kong designers are more experienced when it comes to interacting on an international scale. The mutual communication will help all improve their design skills.”

With the theme “Let’s Create,” the biennial is expected to host over 8,000 enterprises and receive over 40,000 visitors.(Tan Yifan)
